Installers vs. Dealers - Know the Difference

One of the most frequent questions that we get from homeowners seeking to start a screened porch project is: “What is the difference between an Installer and a Dealer?” While we don’t mind answering this and many other questions via social media, email, or telephone, we wanted to write a brief article that defines what these two categories are, their similarities, their differences, and when to contact each. So, if you’ve been wondering the question yourself, or you want a quick refresher, keep reading!

What is an Installer?

An Installer is a skilled individual or team that can be hired to construct your home improvement project. Installers that are listed on our website have become registered SCREENEZE® Installers by installing our product correctly for some time, filling out our online application, and providing up-close and afar photos of their projects.

You hire someone to do the project.

What is a Dealer?

A Dealer is typically a lumber yard or home improvement store that carries the specific products necessary for your projects. Dealers that are listed on our website have become registered SCREENEZE® Dealers by carrying our products at their stores for some time, filling out our online application, and providing the details as to where they purchase our products from and which products they stock (carry on-hand).

You plan to do the project yourself.

Who should you contact?

If you do not possess basic carpentry skills and/or are not familiar with self-installation projects, you should seek out an Installer that meets your needs and possesses those skills that you desire to complete your home improvement project. We always recommend that you qualify your Installer (contractor) prior to hiring.

If you do possess basic carpentry skills, or you are an Installer seeking products to complete a homeowner’s project, you should seek out a Dealer that meets your needs and possesses those products that you desire to complete the home improvement project. We always recommend that you call your Dealer ahead of time to check inventory.
