Decorating Ideas to Prepare for Fall
The official first day of fall may not be here for another few weeks, but it’s already here in spirit! That being said, we figured it would be a good time to release an updated version of some fall decorating ideas. If you’re as ready for pumpkins, colorful leaves, and cooler weather as we are, keep reading to make your screened porch feel fall-ready!
Swap Out Cooler Colors for Warmer Ones
We all agree: summer is for cooler colors like greens, blues, and grays. However, fall is all about warmer colors, like reds, oranges, and browns. One of the quickest and easiest ways to make your screened porch feel like a different season is by changing the colored decor that's placed inside. Pillows, blankets, decorative photos, tabletop decor, and all over seasonally-thematic pieces should be swapped for figuratively warmer choices - items that include leaves, pumpkins, and miscellaneous fall scenes.
Pumpkins, Gourds, and Corn, Oh My
Pumpkins. Gourds. Corn. These are the seasonal items that can easily elevate your screened porch into a superb fall screened porch, and can be done so for a reasonable price. Adding a corn stalk into the corner of your screened porch, with a few differently-sized pumpkins in the foreground, is a fun, easy way to make your porch feel fall-like. The best part of this decorative option is that it is by-far the most customizable and the cheapest.
Corner Beverage & Snack Cart
We’re bringing it back from last fall and winter - a corner beverage/snack cart! Whether you want to store some adult beverages and trail mix on the cart, create a hot-cocoa wonderland cart, or provide a nice elegant mix of bottled drinks, light snacks, and bottled waters, a corner snack and drink cart is perfect for everyone with a screened porch! These are especially helpful during movie nights and evenings with friends, when you don’t want to stop the conversation to grab something to eat or drink.
Throw Blankets Scattered Around
Depending on where you’re located geographically, this may make more sense for you than others. If it’s getting cooler near you, having multiple throw blankets of differing thicknesses in your screened porch helps to keep you and your guests comfortable. Whether the evening starts at 80 degrees Fahrenheit and drops to 60 degrees, or you simply have friends that run on the colder side of things, having multiple blanket options is always a good idea.
Additional Lighting Options
Similarly to the blanket recommendation above, depending on where you’ve located geographically, this may make more sense for you than others. In the fall and winter months, many people face less daylight, which can deter evening hangouts with friends and family. By adding more lamps, lanterns, and/or string lights, time spent with friends and family won’t feel cut short by the sun going down.
