Our creative fall gurus in the SCREENEZE® office have been drafting up beautiful ideas for seasonal decorating layouts. Continue reading for ways to make your screened space colorful and relaxing!
Color Variations
There are so many color variations at your disposal for the fall season. From yellows to oranges, reds to browns, greens to blues, you can truly make any outdoor living space your home. One useful way to make your screened porch *pop* for the fall season is to choose only two or three colors to work with. This will allow you to feel seasonally-relevant while offering aesthetic variety to your guests’ viewing experience.
Since we know that not everyone has the spark for color, we also have recommendations for those seeking more modern #FallVibes. Those that enjoy more muted, relaxing tones can opt to utilize various shades of whites, nudes, and browns to create a calming autumn space that can work year-round. If you find yourself seeking somewhere in between this layout and the colorful one, try starting with this modern layout and adding one color of accent to make your screened porch unique.
Decorative Accents
The time between Halloween and Christmas can be a challenging one solely because of the decorations debate. Some people prefer jumping straight into holiday decorations; others prefer allowing Halloween to drift out and more fall to drift in. No matter your decorative preferences, there’s a strategy for everyone.
If you find yourself more drawn to the fall accents post-Halloween, we recommend utilizing pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, hay bales, and mums in and around your screened porch. These accent pieces allow others to know that you’re not skipping over Thanksgiving and that you want to soak up as much fall as you can.
If you find yourself more drawn to the holiday accents post-Halloween, we recommend taking down all of your fall/Halloween decorations, then slowly start layering your winter/Christmas accent pieces. While you could go straight into the holiday season, it’s often better to stagger and layer the completion of your decorating to reduce overwhelming feelings.
Additional Elements
A newly-thematic screened porch wouldn’t be complete without comfortable additions! We recommend adding additional accents to your screened porch through the use of pillows, blankets, artwork, plants, and small table-top decorations. If you’ve been looking for a time to install that new technology or add a cozy foot stool, this is a great time to do that, too. Any colors, textures, or styles of things that make you joyful - this is the season to add those in and enjoy.
Scents, Tastes, & Sounds
While we’ve already talked about visual and physical ways to make your screened porch feel fall-ready, there are three other senses that we can cater to! For any fall space to feel complete, we recommend introducing some scented candles or room sprays, which make the crisp air smell even better. Additionally, we suggest adding some type of beverage/snack cart in your outdoor space, which makes get-togethers and movie nights a breeze. Finally, we recommend ensuring some form of technology is available outdoors to elevate the atmosphere of the screened space. By incorporating all of these attributes alongside the visual and physical ones, all five senses will be met with fall warmth!
