Perfect Summer Themes for Screened Porches

Decorating a screened porch is the perfect way to showcase your individuality while having fun. We recommend that those with screened porches change their screened porch decor with regularity so that: 1) your space always matches the season and holiday, 2) you and your family don’t worry about getting bored of the surroundings, and 3) you can represent yourself and your uniqueness all 365 days of the year. If you’re having trouble starting to decorate your screened porch, or you’re ready for a new look but don’t know where to begin, we’ve got you covered. Below are our 5 recommended themes to make your screened porch decorated for summer.

Theme 1: #BeachLife

This theme is perfect for the standard beach-lover. Use light greens, blues, and whites to paint the interior screened porch walls and furniture (when applicable). Add bright pillows and blankets in colors that coral would typically grow in (red, orange, yellow, pink, purple, blue, etc.), while using plants as more natural additions. The inclusion of surfboards, seashells, seaglass, wood decor, and sand (in jars and bowls) is also a necessity to make this screened porch truly pop. The perfect finishing touch for this theme of screened porch are string lights, draped along the ceiling and around the edge of the screen. This screened porch style will make you fall in love with it every time you step foot into your beach oasis.

Theme 2: Tropical Paradise

This screened porch decor theme is the ideal option for those that like to feel like they’re in nature while also feeling as though they are in a lavish, protective screened porch. Use wicker, wood, and lighter colors to make this screened porch stand-out. Then, use more tropical-appearing plants, like the Monstera, to make the overall feel of the screened porch space exotic and tropical. Some fluffy, light-colored pillows and cushions will top off this theme, alongside lighter-colored shells, old plant fronds, and yellow-y/orange-y accents. Plenty of natural light alongside oil lanterns will make this screened porch the place to be.

Theme 3: Natural and Neutral

For those that like only a small amount of color in their screened porch, this is a fantastic option for you to try. Neutral and natural screened porches use beiges and tans as the primary colors, with plants and small accents as their only sources of true color. The addition of colorful pillows, vases, books, and tableware are perfect for making this naturally-beautiful space shine. Plants (both fake and real) are then placed around the decor and the space to make it feel open and refreshing. Lanterns, ceiling can lights, and strategically-placed lamps are the best ways to bring this project together and light-up the natural simplicity.

Theme 4: Traditional

Many individuals like more traditional screened porch decor, which includes a neutral color palette, some flowers and plants (but not a lot), a built-in ceiling lighting system, and only table pieces as decor. Navy blues, creams, and browns are typically the best overall colors for this style of screened porch. Flowers and plants should be relatively short in stature, and set on tables or in the corners of the screened porch. Small table decor should be added, but not overwhelming or overly noticeable. Cushions, blankets, and pillows should all be fairly monotone, dependent upon the color you chose. This is a great theme for those that need some relaxation and simplicity in their lives.

Theme 5: Fruity Fun

This is a step more colorful and more unique than the #BeachLife theme up above. If you love color, accent pieces that are covered in fruits, and altogether creativity in your screened porch, this is the style for you. Using white or cream paint will help neutralize some of the color that will be packed into the surrounding furniture and decor. The use of bright pinks, oranges, greens, blues, and yellows within furniture, pillows, decorations, and plants will tie this entire style together. Adding pieces like a pineapple lamp, strawberry-printed pillows, or perhaps a watermelon tabletop piece will make this theme cohesive and coherent. A fantastic choice for those that want some fun and color in their lives.
