How to Start Preparing Your Screened Porch for Spring
As the season slowly begins to change towards a warmer, sunnier, and rainier time, it’s a good opportunity to start transitioning your screened porch from its winter-time self. Whether you covered your screens this winter season with vinyl, or you left them open to the fresh air and weather, we’ve got you taken care of when it comes to letting the warmth in and keeping the bugs out! Remove Any Porch Covering
If you didn’t cover your screened porch at the beginning of the colder season, then you can safely disregard this point. However if you did cover your screened porch at the beginning of winter, then this point is most definitely for you! Carefully remove the vinyl covering (or whatever covering you chose to utilize to cover your screened porch). Ensure that all tape is removed from the covering’s surface, from the external portion of your screened porch, and any other surface that the tape may have been adhered to.
Once the tape is removed and the covering is down, ensure that you have marked the location and orientation of your covering, that way you can reuse the same piece(s) next winter season. Clean off any dust, dirt, or debris to maintain the longevity of the vinyl covering (or whatever you used), and store the coverings safely in a location that A) you’ll remember next winter and B) is safe and sound for the coverings to sit there for another 300 or so days.

Clean Your Porch

Once your screened porch is back open to fresh air, make sure to dust, wipe down table-tops, clean chairs and their cushions, clean the floors, and hit any other areas of dirtiness with a solid once-over of all-purpose cleaner. The upcoming blog will go a little more in-depth about what products to use and where specifically to clean, but this is a good starting point to remind everyone to clean their screened porch.

Change Out Your Decor
It is no longer the holiday season and soon enough it won’t even be a little bit chilly - so it’s time to swap out the cold winter decor for warm spring decor. Utilizing lighter shades of colors, like yellows, pinks, greens, and purples is a great way to change your porch into feeling like it’s already well into spring. Some accent floral pillows/blankets are also fantastic ways to stylize any screened porch while making it feel new and warm. You also can’t forget that with warm spring comes gardening! Add some low- to medium-level light plants into your screened porch to add some extra fresh air and some beautiful spring color.
Rearrange Furniture/Move Storage
Maybe you need a change of scenery or maybe you just need to move those boxes of holiday decorations out from your screened porch and back into the utility closet. Whatever your need may be, moving some things around now will help you to enjoy your screened porch much more and a lot longer. If you just need to rearrange your storage boxes, get it done now so that late spring and early summer you can just kick back and drink a nice cold lemonade. If you are seeking something new and exciting out of your screened porch, move some of the chairs and tables in towards the center of the room and add more decor than was previously there. No matter what you are seeking, a little bit of movement and change will go a long way for your overall enjoyment of your screened porch.
