Farmhouse Plant Potting Bench

Supply List

  • 3 - 2x2’s, 8 feet in length

  • 4 - 2x4’s, 8 feet in length

  • 4 - 2x6’s, 8 feet in length

  • 120 - 2.5” long #8 self-tapping wood screws

  • Exterior-appropriate wood glue

  • Tape measure

  • Safety glasses

  • Wood pencil

  • Ear protection

  • Hand drill

  • Miter saw

  • Sander

Instructions

  1. Build the two leg sets as shown in the diagram with 2 screws per joint and glue. The two legs need to be built in mirror with one another.

  2. Attach the two leg sets together using the 2x2s with screws and glue on a level surface.

  3. Measure up 1.5" on the back legs from the tops of the 2x6s. Attach 2x4 back with screws to the 2x6. Also recommended is a screw at an angle from the top of the 2x4 into the back legs.

  4. Attach 2x6 slats inside the bottom shelf. Also recommended in another 2x6 support in the center of the tabletop so you have something to screw your tabletop boards to. It is shown as a 2x4 in the diagram, but you can use a 2x6 as you will have the scraps leftover.

  5. Measure and cut the back from the 2x4. Attach with screws and glue along the top edge.

  6. Scribe the 2x2 ‘X’ detailing and cut on the compound miter saw. This step is shown in detail in the video, so please watch if you are having issues. Use glue to attach the middle ‘X’ and a screw or a brad nail (if you have a brad nailer).

  7. Space out the tabletop boards and attach from underneath. Attach the top shelf to the tops of legs and the back top piece with glue.

  8. Optional: Brush the finished project with an outdoor-suitable finish, such as paint or stain.

Wire Patio Side Table

Supply List

  • 2 wire tomato cages

  • 1 - 17” pine round

  • 4 - 2” metal mending plates

  • 8 - small metal screws (not to exceed the depth of the wood)

  • Optional: paint/stain

  • Wire cutter

  • Hand drill

Instructions

  1. Turn both tomato cages upside down. Using a wire cutter, remove the staked ends of both metal cages, just above the last rings. This will form your table base.

  2. Spray both of your metal cages the color of your choice. Be sure to give both cages two coats for a finished look.

  3. While the base is drying, spray or paint both sides of your pine round the color of your choice. Be sure to give both sides two coats for a finished look.

  4. Once dry, take both cages and stack them into one another, creating a solid design on which to mount your tabletop onto.

  5. Complete your table by mounting your pine round onto the metal cages. Screw each metal mending plate into the bottom of the pine round, placing each over the top-most wire ring on your base.

Easy Pallet Coffee Table

Instructions

  1. Cut the 4x4 into 4, 2’ segments.

  2. Sand the pallet and the 4x4 segments.

  3. Paint the 4, 2’ segments white, and the bottom of the pallet white. Stain the top of the pallet with your outdoor-grade wood stain.
