DIY PROJECTS FOR ALL SCREENED-IN PORCHES - FALL EDITION

Whether you’re looking for a new decorative piece for your table, or a new table itself, we’ve got you covered with a few DIY projects for your screened porch.

DIY Truss Beam Table

What you will need:

  • 5 - 4x4 @ 8 feet long

  • 2 - 2x4 @ 8 feet long or stud length

  • 2 - 2x10 @ 12 feet long

  • 1 - 2x10 @ 8 feet long (cut breadboards out of this board - can also use a 2x8 or 2x12)

  • 2 1/2" Kreg HD Screws and a Kreg HD

  • 2 1/2" pocket hole screws

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Build two of the leg sets out of the 4x4s. Once you get one built, build the other on top of it so they match perfectly.

  • Step 2: Attach the two legs together with the center beams.

  • Step 3: Position the cross supports inside the table and attach to the top and bottom beams.

  • Step 4: Add the 2x4 aprons underneath for added support.

  • Step 5: Attach the tabletop to the base.

  • Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Follow the image instructions provided. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When the wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe the project clean with damp cloth.

DIY Repurposed Boho Vases

What you will need:

  • 4+ vases

  • Baking powder

  • 1 cup of paint per vase

  • Paint brush

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Place vases onto newspaper.

  • Step 2: Mix 1 tablespoon of baking powder into 1 cup of paint.

  • Step 3: Apply even coats of paint mixture onto each vase.

  • Step 4: Reapply paint mixture as needed for desired appearance.

DIY Crate Centerpiece Box

What you will need:

  • Brad nailer

  • Air compressor

  • ½ in Brad nails

  • Saw

  • 4 - 1x2 furring strips cut at 30″ long (this determines your length)

  • 4 - 1x2 furring strips cut at 8″ long (this determines your width)

  • 4 - 1x2 furring strips cut at 31″ long OR 1 – 1×8 pine board cut at 31″ long

  • 4 - 1x1 pine boards cut at 6″ long (this determines your height)

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Place your support pieces vertically and lay your crate boards horizontally, making sure to line up your edges evenly. Using a brad nailer, air compressor and brad nails, nail the boards in place. **leave gaps in-between the boards to make it look like a crate! Repeat on the other end. Make two of these as they will end up being the short sides of your crate box.

  • Step 2: Once both sides are complete, lay your long crate boards (cut to the length you want for your crate box) and nail in place to the end pieces.

  • Step 3: Time to add the bottom piece. Make sure your bottom board is the width of your end side pieces.

  • Step 4: Decorate as your heart desires.
