Superb Ways to Celebrate Memorial Day in a Screened Porch

First, we want to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day from the SCREENEZE® team! Always held on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is an American holiday honoring the men and women who passed away while serving in the U.S. military. Since 1971 when Memorial Day became a national holiday, people have spent the day visiting memorials or cemeteries, attending parades, and gathering with friends and family. In this blog you will find out how to make the most of your Memorial Day weekend at home at your Screened Porch.

Host a cookout for friends and family

With Memorial Day being labeled as the unofficial start to summer, there is no better way to kick it off than a cookout with the people closest to you. Dressing up in red, white, and blue, and conversing with people about what this day means to you is a great way to immerse yourself in the holiday. Making American themed dishes and desserts is a fun way to spice up your cookout experience.

Make Memorial Day themed arts and crafts

Displaying Memorial Day decorations is a great way to show your appreciation for this great holiday and all the people it represents. Making these crafts is a stress-relieving and fun activity that is perfect for a screened porch. There are tons of craft tutorials all over the web that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.  This time can also be spent writing letters to any people currently in the armed forces or any veterans.

Play fun games in the yard or on the porch

Games are a great way to bring people together and celebrate the great holiday of Memorial Day. Screened porches are a perfect place to enjoy a board game while also enjoying the outdoors. Throwing a football or baseball around the yard is another way family and friends can enjoy the holiday together.

Listen to or play your own music

Music is something that everybody loves and can really bring people together. Screened porches are great places for everyone to bring an instrument and have a jam session. If that's not your thing, playing music on a record player or speaker is another way people can share music and enjoy the outdoor space.

While Memorial Day is a day for fun with friends and family, it is important to remember the reason behind the holiday: to honor those who lost their lives while serving our country.
