HOW TO WINTERIZE YOUR SCREENED PORCH

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Thick vinyl sheeting

  • Velcro tape

  • A razor knife

DIRECTIONS:

First, make sure that your porch is thoroughly cleaned so that you don't trap in dust and dirt in for the winter.

Next, make detailed measurements of each screened opening on your porch. Once you have the measurements add a few inches of height and width so that you will have enough overlap to attach the velcro tape and calculate how much vinyl sheeting you will need.

Once you have your materials, cut a piece of vinyl to fit each screened section and attach it to the trim of your porch using the velcro tape. It is best to use one long strip of tape on each side of the vinyl. Once it is attached check for gaps and apply more tape where it is needed.

TIPS & TRICKS:

This job is much easier to do with two or more people so that you can have someone pull the vinyl taught.

Make sure that the trim has been cleaned and dried before applying the velcro tape.

When you remove it in the spring make sure to mark each piece of vinyl so that you know where it goes and you can easily reapply the sheets next winter.
