Painting

Painting can be an exceptionally fun hobby and has a bunch of different styles that you can choose to try. Watercolor, acrylic, or even fingerpainting can be super enjoyable! Just be sure to put down a sheet to make sure you don’t stain the floor of your screened porch. Try it out, look up some tutorials if you want, and have a great time!

Growing Plants

A screened porch is often the perfect place for your plants! If you have a plant that needs plenty of sunlight but you’re worried about it being eaten by bugs, then definitely keep it there. Plenty of websites offer plant growing tips, and be sure to check out our blog “Perfect Plants for Screened Porches.”

Writing

Whether you just want to journal on your screened porch or draft an entire novel, writing outside can often be a great idea. Not only is it easy to enjoy the weather, but being out in the sunshine can give you some inspiration too. If you normally write inside, try moving to the screened porch to see if it helps you!

Board / Card games

Board games and card games are great because there are so many to choose from. Whether you want to play a game by yourself, with one other person, or with the whole family, there are plenty of options that make it easy to find something you can enjoy. Additionally, the many choices mean that whether you have fifteen minutes, an hour, or multiple hours, you’ll be able to fit in a game or two.

Calligraphy

The perfect mix between writing and drawing, calligraphy is something that is easy to pick up but can take a long time to master. While you can start off with single words like names, eventually you can start to copy down quotes, poems, and more. If you’re feeling it, try to incorporate calligraphy into a drawing to combine both elements.
