Back-to-School Screened Porch Uses

Back-to-School season is happening now, which means there is a whole world of opportunity awaiting how you utilize your screened porch. Whether your children are young, old, or even out of the house, there are plenty of new uses during the Back-to-School season for your screened porch. Storage, space for activities, and a unique location for hosting are a few of the uses coming your way in this blog update.

Additional Storage

Screened porches serve as amazing spaces during the end of summer and beginning of fall for boxes of summer clothes, extra school/work supplies, decorations, and more. While you’ll want to leave most of your space open, to still enjoy for a few more months before it gets colder, utilizing your screened porch for additional storage is a great use during Back-to-School season. If you have younger kids, storing additional clothing, supplies, snacks, and shoes can be done with minimal space while making a large impact. If you have older kids, storing college materials, old furniture that’s heading their way, or boxes they still need to take with them can be an impactful way to save space in your home while compiling the things they need most. Even if your children are long gone from your home, or you have no children altogether, storing additional office materials, clothing, and/or other miscellaneous items can be a useful way to start transitioning to a new season without completely committing.

Plenty of Space

Not only do screened porches provide space for storage, but they additionally provide space just for general use. If you need another extension of your home to do work within, school, or truly anything, a screened porch provides the space to do so. We know how hard working from home can be, both for adults and children, so using your screened porch as a new location to ‘get things done’ sometimes means the difference between a productive day and a more lackadaisical one.

Great Hosting Location

Whether you’re having your own friends over, your children have invited some peers over, or you’re hosting neighbors/family, a screened porch is the space for you! Screened porches provide all of the hospitality that your own home provides, but they are a bit more conducive to guests as they are external, easier to clean, and less private than perhaps your home is. Movie nights, dinner and drinks, and neighborly chatting are all ideal activities for a screened porch. There’s also the added bonus that your screened space is unique in comparison to standard house hosting.

Hobbies & Artwork

Sometimes it’s nice to have a separate space to do your hobbies within, or perhaps even enjoy some relaxing artsy activities. A screened porch is the perfect place for these events, especially during the Back-to-School season, because they are spacious, easier to clean, and provide an individualized area away from the rest of the home. For younger children, this is also a space that can feel more like their own during the Back-to-School season, as it is still outside, but more refined than just playing in the yard or venturing into nature.

Relaxing After Long Days

No matter the time of the year, a screened porch is always an ideal location to relax within after a long day of work or school. These spaces are made for comfort, with views of surrounding nature and life, free from bugs and other distractions. Whether Back-to-School season or not, your entire family and all of your friends will find your screened porch space to be a fantastic place of relaxation and peace.
